VISUALshion's casual outfit is a white turtleneck sweater adorned with jewels around the collar and a black pencil skirt. in the PS3 version of higurashi, she wears a simple spaghetti-strap tank-top and jean skirt. otherwise, a standard school uniform (which is sometimes under a blazer) is her second choice. her waitressing uniform is that of a maid, albeit skimpy.

shion always has a yellow ribbon tied in her hair.

after the series timeskip, young adult shion wears a yellow sweater with a black tank-top beneath it, cuffed skinny jeans, and sandals.

VOICE shion's voice actress is satsuki yukino. the tone she uses is elegant and girly, and her unique greeting is "hello-ello". she has a bit of a lilt at times and ☆'s are often used in her text. you can hear her normal speaking voice right here.

PERSONALITYoutwardly, shion is a cheerful, flirty, friendly, and feminine girl. she greatly enjoys teasing those she is close to and usually has a playful demeanor. lots of jokes, some even crude, and poking fun. bold and a bit shameless. generally speaking, she's fun to be around. she doesn't hesitate clinging to someone's arm or teasing them until they turn red. girl or boy, she absolutely will dress them in cute clothes and fawn over them.

her true personality is reminiscent of a delinquent. she's been arrested numerous times before for picking fights with the police, has a way more causal way of speaking, and is actually rough and tumble like a tomboy. she'll sometimes forego her girlish mannerisms and sit with her legs open or slouch like a boy. this side of her is very, very rare! the only glimpse of it is when she's super angry or spending private time with her sister.

although these feelings are internal and do not often reveal themselves, she can be shrewd, manipulative, and in her own words, "perverse". given the right circumstances, she can become quite jealous, too. they can sometimes manifest into something truly demonic—don't be alarmed though, she'll only be pushed to murder if the region-specific parasite inside her rears its head. otherwise, shion plays her part as a doting romantic partner and fun friend.

shion can be fiercely protective of others and usually takes on a supportive role. because of this, she can be quick to anger and will not hesitate to attack those who are endangering the safety of the person she cares about.

BACKGROUNDwhile she acts as the younger twin to mion sonozaki, in truth, she was born as the elder sister with the name "mion". due to the sisters swapping places at a young age, mion, named "shion", received the oni tattoo which marks the presumptive heir to the sonozaki family. since that event, the sisters have maintained that role replacement: she became the younger "shion" while her younger sister became "mion". they often switch roles or impersonate the other, which can cause confusion.

the sonozaki family is prestigious and wealthy, but shion herself works for her money. she still uses a bit of it to her advantage, though; her father owns an apartment complex and shion lives in it. she is the only resident in the building. because she's an unruly daughter, her family has assigned her a bodyguard to look after her.

shion works as a waitress at the angel mort restaurant and is also the manager's assistant for the hinamizawa fighters little league team.

the person that shion is deeply in love with is satoshi hojo, a boy from her home village in an abusive family. she is devoted to him and looks after his baby sister, satoko, while he is away.
